WHEATLAND REGION, CA (MPG) – On June 20th, individuals, families, and businesses across the country will participate in the eighth annual United Way Day of Action. Here in the Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa area, the Yuba-Sutter United Way is holding a community-wide food drive. The goal is 15,000 pounds of wholesome foods.
The community is invited to be part of the change. During the summer months, area food pantries are challenged to keep their shelves stocked. Please start collecting wholesome, healthy, and nutritious non-perishable food items and plan to bring them to one of five drop-off locations on June 20th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The drop-off locations are Grocery Outlet in Yuba City, Walgreens in Yuba City (corner of Colusa Hwy. and Gray Ave.), Save Mart in Marysville, FoodMaxx in Marysville, and Save-Mor Foods in Colusa.
Cash donations are welcome and will be received online at www.yuba-sutterunitedway.org or at any of the drop-off locations. Cash donations will be forwarded to participating food pantries and used to purchase food items, often at a deep discount.
Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to receive donations at our drop-off locations and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in a warehouse in Yuba City to help sort, weigh, and package the food for our local food pantries. Please call the Yuba-Sutter United Way Office if you are available to volunteer at (530) 743-1847. You can read more about the event on the Yuba-Sutter United Way Facebook page.
