Placer Valley Tourism Helps Bring Baseball to Lincoln

PLACER COUNTY, CA (MPG) – On Nov. 19th, Placer Valley Tourism board of directors unanimously voted to contribute $260,000 toward the renovation of McBean Park Stadium in Lincoln. This comes on the heels of the news that the Lincoln City Council approved a partnership with William Jessup University (WJU) to revitalize the historic McBean Stadium, allowing their growing baseball program to utilize the stadium as their home field for practices and games in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

PVT is thrilled to join in this partnership with William Jessup University and the City of Lincoln that will not only bring collegiate level baseball to Placer Valley, but also benefit the city’s Little League program and support the efforts to bring back this historic field to the community.

David Attaway, CEO of PVT, explained that this monetary contribution was a great opportunity for PVT to participate in the developing baseball program at WJU and the community of Lincoln.

“It allows PVT to support WJU, who has been a great partner and worked closely on other events hosted at the university such as California History Days, basketball tournaments, and many others,” said Attaway. “Additionally, it expands the sports tourism opportunities for our hotels, which results from visiting teams and fans coming to Lincoln to face off against the WJU Warriors, which means not only will they be staying in our hotels but dining and shopping at area establishments.”

On Dec. 8th, Attaway attended the city council meeting in Lincoln and presented the Mayor of Lincoln, Paul Joiner, with the check for $260,000.

Some of the improvements that will be made to McBean Stadium are irrigation and renovation of the natural grass outfield, center field fencing and fence caps, batting cages, dugouts, and electrical scoreboards and a synthetic turf infield including necessary maintenance equipment. The projected timeline for the renovations has a finish date estimated for April 2016. Priorities are being made for the fields and what needs to be done inside the fence.

PVT is a non-profit business improvement district that is made up for the 23 hotels in Roseville, Rocklin, and Lincoln, California.
