Roster Includes Six Returners from 2014 Championship Team
MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) – The 2015 Marysville Gold Sox roster has been released and includes six returning players from the 2014 Horizon Air Summer Series Championship team. This year’s squad is made up of four local products and players from six different states as well as Australia.
Highlighting the returners is right-handed pitcher Stuart Bradley who is a native of Yuba City and recently led the Yuba College 49ers to their first playoff berth in 23 years. Also returning is Michael Frantz of the University of California East Bay who doubles as a right-handed pitcher and shortstop. Right-hander Kea Vierra of Lewis and Clark College and outfielders Brandon Tripp-Cody of Florida International and Alex Fitchett of Cosumnes River College join Live Oak, CA product Louis Mejia as the other returning Gold Sox. Mejia currently plays the infield for the University of Pacific.
Righty Chad Perry will be pitching in Marysville for the first time since being named the 2013 Empire League MVP while playing for Marysville High School. Perry is a sophomore and currently a member of the Sacramento State Hornets pitching staff. Catcher Cooper Goldby of Yavapai Community College and Yuba City rounds out the players who are from the local area.
Out of the 11 pitchers on staff, Wes Malik and Phillip Trujillo are the only lefties for the Gold Sox this season. Malik is originally from San Jose and currently plays for St. Mary’s, while Trujillo is coming north from Albuquerque, NM as a member of New Mexico Highlands.
Rounding out the pitchers are righties Nick Dipaola of Regis University and Lakewood, CO, Aaron Alexander of The Master’s College and Concord, CA, Brandon Nunn of Sacramento City College and Sacramento, CA, Aaron Herr of Sierra Community College and Fair Oaks, CA, and Michael Gahan of Miles Community College and New South Wales, Australia.
Taylor Sanders and Spencer Lininger join Goldby as this year’s catchers. Sanders is originally from Lake Oswego, OR and will be representing North Dakota State University. Lininger of Fair Oaks and San Mateo Community College is following in his brother Tommy’s footsteps, who was part of last year’s squad.
Switch-hitting infielder Drew Lacomb reigns from Las Vegas and currently plays for Regis College along with Dipaola. Infielder Kyle Lewis out of Kings Beach, CA and current teammate of Herr at Sierra Community College will be primarily used at second base. Utility man Alex Larivee is originally from Sacramento and is representing Youngstown State University.
The remaining outfielders are Danny Regan of Omaha, NE and North Dakota State University and McKay Koissian of Cypress, CA and the University of Pacific.
Jack Johnson returns for his ninth season as manager of the Gold Sox and coach Jim Stassi is back for his fifth season. Also returning is trainer Erik Lambert.
